Buying Process Questions

An as-is vehicle is sold in its present mechanical and cosmetic condition without a safety certificate. It may not be driven on a public road until you obtain a safety certificate from a licensed inspection station. The as-is price reflects the vehicle’s condition before any work is done. You have the option to add safety certification or full reconditioning — ask your Automotive Specialist for pricing. Even on an as-is sale, we are still required by Ontario law to disclose all material facts about the vehicle’s history, prior use, and condition in writing on your bill of sale. The OMVIC required disclosure for a vehicle sold as is, which would be the case, should you purchase any vehicle in as is condition form us is: “The motor vehicle sold under this contract is being sold “as-is” and is not represented as being in road worthy condition, mechanically sound or maintained at any guaranteed level of quality. The vehicle may not be fit for use as a means of transportation and may require substantial repairs at the purchaser’s expense. It may not be possible to register the vehicle to be driven in its current condition.”

An Ontario Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is an official document confirming that a vehicle meets the minimum safety standards set by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) on the date of inspection. It is not a warranty or guarantee of the vehicle’s condition — you can buy and register a vehicle without one, but cannot put plates on it without one.

Autosonline inspects every vehicle to identify the repairs and services required to pass an Ontario Safety Inspection and receive a Safety Standards Certificate, ensuring it is roadworthy and legal to drive on Ontario roads. We also assess each vehicle for any optional reconditioning or maintenance items that, in our opinion, would enhance its condition or longevity.e

Autosonline makes every effort to ensure that pre-inspection Ontario Safety requirements are posted in a clear manner on our website.

Any vehicle displayed on our website with a stick number than ends in “x” means that is was purchased from a long and short term rental company and is an ‘ex-daily rental’.

Autosonline operates transparently and on an à la carte basis, ensuring clients are fully informed before committing to a purchase. Clients are encouraged to inspect the vehicle prior to signing and are made aware of all relevant details upfront.

By signing the purchase agreement, the client authorizes Autosonline to perform work on the vehicle on their behalf. This may include, but is not limited to, mechanical repairs necessary to obtain an Ontario Safety Standards Certificate, additional reconditioning, cosmetic work, or any other work directed by the purchaser.

Should the client cancel the agreement after signing, they will be responsible for the full cost of any work completed on the vehicle up to the point of cancellation.
